Reports to: Head of Conservation, Sarawak
Overview:
Are you passionate about conservation and ready to lead impactful projects
in Sarawak? WWF-Malaysia is seeking a Senior Manager for our Sarawak
Conservation Programme. This pivotal role focuses on driving landscape-scale
initiatives, promoting sustainable development, and fostering collaborative efforts
with governmental bodies, stakeholders, and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
● Project Leadership: Manage and monitor high-impact projects like Gunung
Lesung-Ulu Sebuyau and Ulu Sungai Menyang/Ulu Ai Kanan, ensuring
outcomes align with our conservation objectives.
● Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaborative relationships with
government bodies, research institutions, and local communities to achieve
cohesive conservation outcomes.
● Strategic Guidance: Provide expert inputs for the Sarawak Conservation
Strategy, contributing to adaptive management and evidence-based
decision-making.
● Capacity Building: Support the professional growth of our team, enhancing
their technical skills and conservation expertise.
Qualifications:
● Educational Background: Degree in conservation, environmental science,
sustainable development, or related field; postgraduate qualifications are
advantageous.
● Professional Experience: Minimum 8 years in conservation or sustainable
development, with managerial experience preferred.
● Local Expertise: In-depth knowledge of conservation issues specific to
Sarawak.
● Communication Skills: Excellent proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and
English, with strong writing and presentation abilities.
● Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership, teamwork and building of
alliances, interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently.
● Technological Proficiency: Computer literate, capable of utilizing
technology for effective presentations and communications.
