Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre Sdn Bhd (SIDC) is a government-linked company entrusted to carry
out research on infectious diseases, development of diagnostic, vaccines and therapeutics. SIDC is
looking for suitable candidates to join the team in Kuching, Sarawak. The successful applicant is expected
to have relevant working experience and academic qualification as indicated:
1. Senior Scientist (1 vacancy)
Working experience:- At least 10 years’ experience working in a research environment such as in medical institutions,
pharmaceutical organizations or academia.- Research work in areas of biomedical sciences, biochemistry, data analytics and other related
speciality- Must have experience working in a multidisciplinary lab and ability to multitask- Experience in genomic surveillance, metagenomics and other omics platform will be an
advantage- Having published peer-reviewed research findings in internationally recognised journals- Team player, independent and able to work under minimum supervision- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Academic qualification:- PhD in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or related areas- At least 5 years post-doctoral research experience is a must- Considerable knowledge in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), especially with
systems relevant to research and laboratory work.
2. Research Officer (3 Vacancies)
Working experience:- At least 3-5 years’ experience in collaborative research and field surveillance works, dealing with
infectious diseases and public health- Must have experience working in a multidisciplinary lab and ability to multitask- Knowledge in quantitative methods: analyse data, evaluate results, form conclusions, and provide/
implement process or document improvement;- Knowledge of research laboratory operations and management will be an added advantage- Team player, independent and able to work under minimum supervision- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Academic qualification:- A Ph.D. (or commensurate experience) in life science, biology, biochemistry, genetics, chemistry,
data analytics or a related field with ≥2 years of post-doctoral experience OR Masters with at least
5 years’ industry experience required.- Considerable knowledge in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), especially with
systems relevant to research and laboratory work.
3. Engineer (1 vacancy)
Working experience:- At least 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, processing or research facility environment- Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment- Experience and knowledge with ICT systems relevant to facility management is an added
advantage- Considerable supervisory and managerial experience- Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
Academic qualification:- Bachelor degree (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering- Post Graduate qualification or training in relevant field (Facility Management, Engineering
Management or MBA) is an added advantage
4. Engineering Assistant/Technical Assistant (1 vacancy)
Working experience:- At least 5 years’ experience in a technical facility or construction environment- Experience in installation and maintenance of equipment and/or electrical systems- Considerable supervisory experience- Team player, independent and able to work under minimum supervision
Academic qualification:- A Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.- SPM holders with at least 7 years relevant experience may be considered.- Candidate with Chargeman L1 license is an added advantage.
